About us

The Green Hydrogen Association (GH2 India) is a multi-stakeholder platform dedicated to accelerating the development and deployment of green hydrogen solutions in India. By working closely with the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), state governments, industry leaders, think tanks, developmental finance institutions, academia, and civil society, GH2 India fosters collaboration, innovation, and policy initiatives that support India’s clean energy transition. Focused on policy and advocacy, capacity building, and market creation, we are committed to shaping a robust green hydrogen ecosystem that bolsters India’s energy security, economic growth, and leadership in global decarbonisation efforts.

Mission

Our mission is to drive the expansion of green hydrogen as a cornerstone of India’s sustainable energy landscape. We seek to enable cost-effective and scalable hydrogen production, spur investments, advance policy frameworks, and encourage strategic partnerships. By doing so, we aim to create an environment where green hydrogen can deliver tangible climate benefits, economic resilience, and inclusive development for over 1.5 billion citizens.

Vision

We envision India emerging as a global hub for green hydrogen—an environment where advanced technologies, equitable market structures, and supportive policies converge to enable widespread adoption and export of green hydrogen solutions. Our goal is to help position India as a front-runner in delivering cost-competitive green hydrogen to domestic and international markets, thereby strengthening energy security, uplifting communities, and contributing meaningfully to the global pursuit of net-zero emissions.

Our Three Pillars and the UN SDGs

We organise our efforts around three core pillars—Enabling Environment, Market Creation, and Capacity Building—that collectively support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Enabling Environment: Through robust policy advocacy, regulatory frameworks, and strategic partnerships, we advance SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Our work ensures a stable, transparent, and supportive landscape for green hydrogen deployment.

Market Creation: By stimulating demand, attracting investments, and fostering innovation, we drive SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). This ensures a thriving, inclusive market for green hydrogen solutions.

Capacity Building: Our training initiatives, knowledge sharing, and skill development programmes empower communities, stakeholders, and institutions—contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and enabling broader participation in the green hydrogen economy.

Through these three pillars, GH2 India aligns its work with global sustainability benchmarks, ensuring that our actions not only accelerate the green hydrogen ecosystem but also contribute to a just, inclusive, and climate-resilient future.
